Andrew - I think your statement is quite naive in its claims and generalizations.

First off, you assume I cannot afford or do not negotiate domain sales of the LL.com realm? That's quite cheeky coming from a complete stranger with no access to me or my finances.

Second, you imply that I should not be publicizing these imminent expirations because I disrupt your negotiations with the owner?

Again, that's humbug, unless you can prove I talked to owner Joe Blow with domain Example.com which you were trying to buy. But you won't be able to give any such example.

Maybe you're confusing me with someone else? I don't announce premium .com domains about to expire and it seems that you're picking on the wrong person. This LL.com series of articles is a first.

Lastly, I don't think that you or anyone else has the ability or the right to dictate to me - or others for that matter - what I can blog about.

What I disclose is not secrets of the underworld, it's public information. Others cover - daily - hundreds and thousands of expiring or dropping domains. I won't list who they are but they range from individual pick-lists to commercial lists you can subscribe to.

Acro - I'm going to be honest, as this is now becoming a habit with your blog, I feel I need to speak up.

If these are names which you have no intention or can not afford to purchase, I think that you should leave it alone.

You are indirectly disrupting the market for many of us for whom these types of names are a staple for our business.

All that is achieved by publicizing on a broad scale this type of information is that the owners are alerted to their stupidity (in some cases) and then they are annoyed by domainers who offer them a couple hundred to a few thousand dollars.

Then when a serious buyer comes a long, it makes it very difficult to negotiate with the owner, because they have been inundated with phone calls and emails from people who can simply not afford to buy such domains.

Not just LL.com domains, but also premium one word .COM domains which you often publicize.

Anyhow, I love your blog and appreciate your work, but this specific topic is not one I personally think you should be covering (nor anyone else for that matter) until AFTER the expiration and resulting shuffle has taken place.

Besides it makes for a better story to talk about how it expired or didn't expire and who ended up with the name and at what price.

Just my humble opinion...

Joe - "Of course" are famous last words in many circumstances. The question is, why not renew these domains for many years in advance? Take GE.com as an example: Expires in 2015.

A lot of interesting responses :D

Mr. Banion - hopefully whoever called you either made an offer or alerted you to the imminent expiration of your domain. Glad you have it under control.

J.Baller - Correct, lots of geeks aren't domainers and vice versa.

Erogene - Strange things happen, it's called life on the Internet.

E.David - Bidding "adieu" to a LL.com would be catastrophic.

Chandan - You are very correct.

Brian - We have plenty already but nice idea.

Joe - I'm almost certain this only applies to LL.org domains & PIR

GrCorp - Don't they do it already with all valuable names? They have the advantage.

Kate - That's the smart thing to do :)

Expired Domains - I only listed the upcoming 13, there's more interesting data coming up.

AdminDomain - Nice picks. We can all do "window shopping" for domains!

James - Don't you wish you had it? J.Banion is the lucky "JB" man.

Attila - Did you call Mr. Banion and he got all upset?

You have to remember a lot of people that have these domains aren't domainers and therefore set them to auto renew and get billed automatically. It's called playing with fire, but they don't know any better. muaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaa
