I’ve perused lengthy lists of domains for sale on forums for more than a decade.
A large part of my domain portfolio was acquired from dictionary drop lists, from a now defunct service called DomainsBot, between 2000 and 2002. These lists contained thousands of domains in random order.
To go through the lot, I had to sort them in alphabetical order, using a Perl script back in the day.
The human brain can identify patterns in images, but text lists are best processed when they are sorted alphabetically.
Most domainers publishing a list of domains for sale do not care about the order of their domains, but if the list is longer than 20 or so domains it gets harder to identify potential gems among the coal.
These days, I use a great online tool that provides several sorting options, including alphabetically or by length.
