{"id":1974,"date":"2011-10-28T14:51:03","date_gmt":"2011-10-28T18:51:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=1974"},"modified":"2011-10-28T15:02:27","modified_gmt":"2011-10-28T19:02:27","slug":"the-insatiable-hunger-of-the-chinese-for-numeric-domains","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/the-insatiable-hunger-of-the-chinese-for-numeric-domains\/","title":{"rendered":"The insatiable hunger of the Chinese for numeric domains"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few months ago I mentioned how a domain of mine got hit with <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domains\/final-update-4000-whois-queries\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>4,000 WHOIS queries<\/strong><\/a> while it neared its expiration date.<\/p>\n<p>After reading <a href=\"http:\/\/domainshane.com\/4-cn-brokers-sale-of-55-com-for-2-3-million\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Shane&#8217;s post<\/strong><\/a> about the sale of 55.com to a Chinese company, I noticed that one of my numeric domains accumulated almost 1,000 WHOIS queries &#8211; again at expiration.<\/p>\n<p>I decided to once again leave this domain 1-2 weeks past expiration, to tease the crowds of Chinese domainers that are drooling over it.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, the meaning behind <a href=\"http:\/\/domaingang.com\/short-news\/is-520-com-the-most-valuable-chinese-domain\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>numbers in the Chinese culture<\/strong><\/a> was covered in another post earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>While on the subject of numeric domains, almost 3 years later, my <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domains\/perfect-number-perfect-sale-360org-sells-for-five-figures\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>sale of 360.org<\/strong><\/a> still remains as the highest recorded NNN .org domain sale of all time \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few months ago I mentioned how a domain of mine got hit with 4,000 WHOIS queries while it neared its expiration date.
