{"id":2129,"date":"2011-12-28T14:36:55","date_gmt":"2011-12-28T19:36:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=2129"},"modified":"2011-12-28T15:37:32","modified_gmt":"2011-12-28T20:37:32","slug":"party-like-a-rockefeller","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/party-like-a-rockefeller\/","title":{"rendered":"Party like a Rockefeller"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Aged &#8220;just&#8221; 74 years and six months, senator <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jay_Rockefeller\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Jay &#8220;John&#8221; Rockefeller<\/strong><\/a> is still keeping America safe from its natural enemies.<\/p>\n<p>In a letter published at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.talkradionews.com\/quicknews\/2011\/12\/28\/rockefeller-concerned-about-web-domain-expansion.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Talk Radio News Service<\/strong><\/a>, senator Rockefeller made this statement:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cI\u2019m concerned that this expansion of generic, top-level domains, if it proceeds as planned, will have adverse consequences for the millions of American consumers, companies, and non-profit organizations that use the Internet on a daily basis,\u201d <\/em>Rockefeller wrote in a letter to Commerce Secretary John Bryson and NTIA Administrator Lawrence Strickling.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Senator Rockefeller is unique, in the sense that he&#8217;s the only Democrat in a long family line of Republicans, including his great-grandfather, self-made oil tycoon John D. Rockefeller.<\/p>\n<p>And that&#8217;s where the party ends, I&#8217;m afraid.<\/p>\n<p>There is no way to stop progress and the Internet will have to expand, despite the narrow minds of some. New gTLDs will be introduced and new methods of accessing and sharing data and information.
