Having identified the music playing in GoDaddy’s new commercials<\/strong><\/a> that feature women of Mediterranean (“Greek<\/em>“) looks and a geek sidekick<\/strong>, I reached out to GoDaddy.<\/p>\n

The song by the late Greek composer, Manos Hatzidakis<\/strong><\/a>, first turned up in 1962. That’s a full 50 years ago, and for that matter, it’s definitely copyrighted.<\/p>\n

GoDaddy’s marketing department responded to my inquiry, stating the following:<\/p>\n

“As for the music, this is something that was handled by our ad agency Deutsch and unfortunately we cannot comment on.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I asked GoDaddy to bring me in touch with the creative department of Deutsch that put together the commercials, but I have not heard from them yet. Meanwhile, the commercials go live tomorrow as the London Olympics begin.<\/p>\n
