{"id":2822,"date":"2012-10-11T10:43:25","date_gmt":"2012-10-11T14:43:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=2822"},"modified":"2012-10-11T10:44:51","modified_gmt":"2012-10-11T14:44:51","slug":"traffic-attendees-linkedin-phishing-on-the-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/traffic-attendees-linkedin-phishing-on-the-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"TRAFFIC attendees: LinkedIn phishing on the rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LinkedIn phishing emails are on the rise.<\/p>\n<p>In the past 24 hours I&#8217;ve received more than two dozen emails, pretending that someone is trying to contact me via the <a href=\"http:\/\/LinkedIn.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>LinkedIn<\/strong><\/a> platform.<\/p>\n<p>All of them were attempts to make me click on a link, that would take me somewhere else and provide my LinkedIn user name and password.<\/p>\n<p>Such rogue web sites work on the assumption that someone conducting business at any given time, has a reason to respond to such requests.<\/p>\n<p>Having attended a major conference, such as <strong>TRAFFIC 2012<\/strong> in Ft. Lauderdale, following up to connections established at the show, is important. The phishing scam relies on that exact psychology; that one would lower their guard and head over to those rogue web sites, in order not to miss on the opportunity to strengthen that connection.<\/p>\n<p>The phishing scams work particularly well over mobile phones. Solution: never click on links in emails, which pretend to be from various services you use.
