{"id":2853,"date":"2012-10-24T16:50:24","date_gmt":"2012-10-24T20:50:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=2853"},"modified":"2012-10-24T16:54:40","modified_gmt":"2012-10-24T20:54:40","slug":"godaddy-tdnam-mass-confusion-of-the-public","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/godaddy-tdnam-mass-confusion-of-the-public\/","title":{"rendered":"GoDaddy TDNAM: Mass confusion of the public"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By now, you should know my thesis on how the decision by Sedo to list &#8220;<em>make an offer<\/em>&#8221; domains on the <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domains\/sedomls-a-failure-at-godaddy-tdnam\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>GoDaddy TDNAM hurts the sellers and the buyers.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After an initial <strong>avalanche of lowball offers<\/strong>, apparently due to the spike in the TDNAM inventory, things got quiet.<\/p>\n<p>In the interim, I have been moving my domain portfolio to <a href=\"http:\/\/internettraffic.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Frank Schilling&#8217;s Internet Traffic<\/strong><\/a>. Not only the PPC is considerably higher, but I am getting <strong>daily inquiries<\/strong> about domains that don&#8217;t necessarily have traffic.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s another reason I invest in brandables: someone, somewhere, wants those domains and the &#8220;for sale&#8221; sign on Sedo parked pages isn&#8217;t going to cut it. On pages parked at Internet Traffic, you can&#8217;t miss that <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domains\/want-to-sell-more-domains-make-your-own-landing-pages\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>orange, customizable text banner.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Today, I exchanged a series of emails via the Internet Traffic platform, with a buyer who was asking whether the &#8220;auction&#8221; was over, and how would they get that domain. I realized, that they were referring to one of my domains listed at TDNAM without my explicit authorization, and which is parked at Internet Traffic as of yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>It became obvious, that <strong>GoDaddy is now confusing end users<\/strong>, by listing domain names arbitrarily on TDNAM. I had to explain to the potential buyer, that I had never listed the domain on GoDaddy, nor started an auction at the $60 price.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s embarrassing for GoDaddy, to mislead buyers like that, and to Sedo that opened the floodgates by tossing out quality domain names that would have never been listed in TDNAM in the first place!<\/p>\n<p>Not only are end-users getting &#8220;<em>shafted<\/em>&#8221; by following &#8220;<em>dummy<\/em>&#8221; auctions, but GoDaddy is now <a href=\"http:\/\/onlinedomain.com\/2012\/10\/24\/news\/your-auction-has-ended-will-godaddy-give-me-back-my-time-and-money\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>wasting the seller&#8217;s time and that of their own.<\/strong> <\/a><\/p>\n<p>This, clearly, has to stop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By now, you should know my thesis on how the decision by Sedo to list &#8220;make an offer&#8221; domains on the GoDaddy TDNAM hurts the sellers and the buyers.
