{"id":3091,"date":"2013-01-15T11:24:52","date_gmt":"2013-01-15T16:24:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=3091"},"modified":"2013-01-15T11:30:45","modified_gmt":"2013-01-15T16:30:45","slug":"lets-connect-on-linkedin-not","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/lets-connect-on-linkedin-not\/","title":{"rendered":"Let&#8217;s connect on LinkedIn &#8211; not!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/LinkedIn.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>LinkedIn<\/strong><\/a> is the network for professionals; whether you&#8217;re a self-employed entrepreneur or a cubicle slave, your profile there serves a very specific purpose.<\/p>\n<p>Some seem to treat LinkedIn just like any other <strong>social network<\/strong>, such as Facebook and this approach is <strong>problematic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Connecting with others on LinkedIn should be reserved for those types of contacts, in my <em>not-so-humble<\/em> opinion:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Past &amp; present coworkers, clients or employers.<\/li>\n<li>Associates you want to network with on business matters.<\/li>\n<li>Business contacts you want to associate with for future projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>LinkedIn is <strong>not recommended<\/strong> for the following functions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dating. If you think an executive is hot, don&#8217;t stalk her on LinkedIn.<\/li>\n<li>Shooting the shit. This isn&#8217;t Facebook, period.<\/li>\n<li>Daily chatting on anything and everything. Use twitter or join a forum.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are several <a href=\"http:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/rebuildcredit\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>fake profiles<\/strong><\/a> out there <span style=\"color: #999999;\">[this one of scammer Starlita Similien aka Andrea Jamie Deluca]<\/span>, some of which also use fake pictures.
