Finally, the IOC does something right"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The<strong> International Olympic Committee<\/strong> has <a href=\"http:\/\/olympictalk.nbcsports.com\/2013\/09\/08\/wrestling-voted-olympics-baseball-softball-squash\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>voted against excluding wrestling<\/strong><\/a> from the 2020 and 2024 Olympic games.<\/p>\n<p>The decision comes as a relief to thousands of fans of the sport, which existed as an Olympic event since antiquity.<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, fans of baseball\/softball and squash will be disappointed; these events are being dropped after <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rio2016.org\/en\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Rio de Janeiro in 2016.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s understandable that the IOC came to its senses after <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/business\/the-ioc-killed-the-olympic-spirit-by-removing-wrestling-from-the-xxxii-olympiad\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>international pressure from freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling fans<\/strong><\/a>, who were appalled to see three millennia of sport history go down the drain.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the focus will be on <strong>Tokyo<\/strong>, that was chosen as the host city for the 2020 Olympics. Japan might not be the financial superpower it once was, but it&#8217;s a far better suitor than Madrid and Istanbul to host the Olympic Games.
