{"id":3684,"date":"2014-01-11T14:12:26","date_gmt":"2014-01-11T19:12:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=3684"},"modified":"2014-01-11T14:20:14","modified_gmt":"2014-01-11T19:20:14","slug":"las-vegas-where-the-thieves-wear-elvis-suits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/las-vegas-where-the-thieves-wear-elvis-suits\/","title":{"rendered":"Las Vegas: Where the thieves wear Elvis suits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>To everyone heading to Las Vegas for <a title=\"NamesCon: My thoughts on an important Domain Industry event\" href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/business\/namescon-my-thoughts-on-an-important-domain-industry-event\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>NamesCon 2014<\/strong><\/a>, I&#8217;m sending out a wave &#8211; <em>hey!<\/em> &#8211; for safe travel.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s great seeing the weather being in favor of traveling, unlike the &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/domaingang.com\/domain-news\/polar-vortex-newsworthy-com-sells-for-cold-cash\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>polar vortex<\/strong><\/a>&#8221; chaos of last week.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Las Vegas<\/strong> is glitz, lights, drinks and gambling, with the occasional high calorie meal. If you&#8217;re not a smoker but like to gamble, this is your worst nightmare as smoking is permitted almost anywhere that you can slide a coin into a machine.<\/p>\n<p>Beware of the <strong>high tech thieves<\/strong>, they wear an <strong>Elvis suit<\/strong> these days: what appears to be a friendly smile, could be an attempt to separate you from your money. Before you know it, Elvis would have left the building, with your <strong>ATM PIN<\/strong> and it could cost you a lot more than a pair of <em>blue suede shoes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>While I&#8217;m speaking <strong>metaphorically<\/strong>, there is plenty of <strong>card swiping<\/strong> crime in Vegas; <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/social-issues\/attended-traffic-or-domainfest-scrutinize-your-bank-account\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>it happened to me during TRAFFIC 2010<\/strong><\/a> and this time around I&#8217;ll be more careful in how I engage in transactions.<\/p>\n<p>If you must get cash, walk in the bank and avoid bank ATMs like a vampire detests garlic.
