{"id":4040,"date":"2014-06-10T18:04:00","date_gmt":"2014-06-10T22:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=4040"},"modified":"2014-06-10T18:05:51","modified_gmt":"2014-06-10T22:05:51","slug":"moniker-exodus-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/moniker-exodus-update\/","title":{"rendered":"Moniker exodus: An update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After the Moniker issues of last week, I was able to transfer my last remaining domain there, to <a title=\"Goodbye, Moniker\" href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domains\/goodbye-moniker\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Uniregistry<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It took 5 days, and the domain still shows in my Moniker account.<\/p>\n<p>Moniker always had issues with syncing its system to the Registry, so I&#8217;m left with a &#8216;<em>ghost<\/em>&#8216; domain that&#8217;s already moved out.<\/p>\n<p>The peril at Moniker that many domain registrants are currently facing is representative of the <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/business\/acquisitions-and-mergers-bring-layoffs-and-executive-control\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>consequences of corporate mergers.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Without a plan to evolve the brand instead of using the existing customer base as coinage, existing brands that get acquired often become <a href=\"http:\/\/domainnamewire.com\/2014\/06\/02\/the-new-moniker-love-it-or-hate-it\/#comments\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>shadows of their former glory.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I also transferred out my last remaining domain at Network Solutions, as I cannot support a company that sends &#8220;opt out&#8221; emails to <a href=\"http:\/\/onlinedomain.com\/2014\/06\/04\/news\/xyz-is-dead-disaster-daniel-negari-exposed-xyz-down-to-34th-place-where-is-deals-xyz\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>inflate registration numbers<\/strong><\/a>, as in the case of dot .XYZ.
