{"id":4762,"date":"2015-08-21T11:15:31","date_gmt":"2015-08-21T15:15:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=4762"},"modified":"2015-08-21T11:27:46","modified_gmt":"2015-08-21T15:27:46","slug":"my-nominations-for-the-domain-conference-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/my-nominations-for-the-domain-conference-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"My nominations for THE Domain Conference awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It feels strange knowing that there&#8217;s no more TRAFFIC conference.<\/p>\n<p>After a decade of successful domain industry shows, Rick Schwartz retired in triumph, and currently safeguards the TRAFFIC name, brand and legacy.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Howard Neu, TRAFFIC co-founder and partner, moves on with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedomainconference.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>THE Domain Conference<\/strong><\/a>, that once again uses South Florida as its stomping grounds.<\/p>\n<p>Neu&#8217;s wife, Barbara, and their son Ray Dillman, are currently putting the final touches to the conference&#8217;s details. I&#8217;m certain it will be a splendid event, and <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domains\/do-we-need-yet-another-domain-conference\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>although I have not committed<\/strong><\/a> to attending, I am behind their effort 100%.<\/p>\n<p>Now that the deadline for <strong>industry award nominations<\/strong> has passed, I can share with the domain community my nominations &#8211; which match my eventual votes.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Domain developer of the year:<strong> Tia Wood<\/strong> &#8211; Because she is a developer in the true sense of the word.<\/li>\n<li>Domain blogger of the year:<strong> Kevin Murphy<\/strong> &#8211; Consistent and professional, with journalistic ethos.<\/li>\n<li>Best Registry of the year: <strong>Donuts, Inc.<\/strong> &#8211; They&#8217;re the biggest gTLD Registry in the entire world. Enough said.<\/li>\n<li>Best Registrar of the year: <strong>Uniregistrar<\/strong> &#8211; Their software and domain management back-end is top of the line.<\/li>\n<li>Domain broker of the year: <strong>Amanda Waltz<\/strong> &#8211; In my opinion, she&#8217;s top among equals at Igloo, and these guys rock.<\/li>\n<li>Domain investor of the year: <strong>Konstantinos Zournas<\/strong> &#8211; Kostas is a hard-working domainer who isn&#8217;t afraid to take risks, all while documenting them.<\/li>\n<li>Best company in the industry for 2015: <strong>Uniregistry<\/strong> &#8211; Frank Schilling&#8217;s a dynamo and his company employs some of the best people in the industry.<\/li>\n<li>Goodwill ambassador award: <strong>Francois Carrillo<\/strong> &#8211; He has given great support promoting domainers, big and small, through his numerous public projects.<\/li>\n<li>Domain industry hall of fame: <strong>Donna Mahony<\/strong> &#8211; She&#8217;s a domain veteran that deserves recognition for her personal efforts to unite and educate domain investors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I hope that THE Domain Conference becomes as important of a domain industry event as TRAFFIC was.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It feels strange knowing that there&#8217;s no more TRAFFIC conference.
