As a domain investor, I often acquire domains after a considerable amount of negotiation.<\/p>\n

My goal is to maintain the privacy of the terms and the associated price.<\/p>\n

Although a non-disclosure agreement<\/strong><\/a> can take care of the general terms of an exchange, there is a weak point that is not always controlled by me or the seller.<\/p>\n

Certain venues maintain information about the sale, and a landing page that can be reached by searching their live database. Quite often, that landing page is also accessible via DomainTools<\/strong><\/a>, a partner with many such domain selling venues.<\/p>\n

Not only a domain’s availability can be erroneously displayed long after it has been acquired, but a price as well. The latter, might be lower than, equal to, or – sometimes<\/em> – higher than the number displayed.<\/p>\n

Because this can create a number of issues long term, I always reach out to the domain selling venues, such as Sedo<\/strong>, Afternic<\/strong> and GoDaddy<\/strong>, to remove this information. Usually, when that is achieved, DomainTools removes the information automatically in approximately 24 hours.<\/p>\n

By being proactive with such publicly available information, one can minimize potential issues in the future, and safeguard their domain investment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
