{"id":5080,"date":"2016-05-06T10:44:41","date_gmt":"2016-05-06T14:44:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=5080"},"modified":"2016-05-06T10:45:13","modified_gmt":"2016-05-06T14:45:13","slug":"domain-inquiries-that-shun-their-countrys-cctld-domain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domain-inquiries-that-shun-their-countrys-cctld-domain\/","title":{"rendered":"Domain inquiries that shun their country&#8217;s ccTLD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When receiving a domain inquiry, there are three important elements to help you identify your potential buyer:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Their name<\/li>\n<li>The email<\/li>\n<li>Their IP \/ locale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Assuming that the inquiry maker does not attempt to mask who they are &#8211;<em> in which case, you&#8217;d have to extract that information &#8211;<\/em> by using the details above you can get a better picture about who you&#8217;re dealing with.<\/p>\n<p>As I&#8217;ve noted previously, plenty of domain inquiries these days arrive via 3rd parties that are <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domain-offers-a-twist-on-the-proverbial-poor-student-inquiry\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>not professional domain brokers.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>When a contact expresses interest in your .com domain, always check the availability of the <strong>ccTLD domain<\/strong> at their country of origin.<\/p>\n<p>A few days ago, an otherwise nice fella from Europe acted all &#8220;shocked&#8221; over my five figure quote on a generic .com; I responded that their lack of an ample budget could be resolved by registering their national ccTLD domain, that very minute.<\/p>\n<p>As I suspected, the ccTLD remains available to this date, indicating an ulterior motive in the inquiry: it was someone else&#8217;s decision to make.<\/p>\n<p>National ccTLD domains are very commonly used outside of the US, as brands, business names and corporate web sites.
