{"id":5090,"date":"2016-05-16T12:32:08","date_gmt":"2016-05-16T16:32:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=5090"},"modified":"2016-05-16T12:44:38","modified_gmt":"2016-05-16T16:44:38","slug":"lucky-strike-how-i-beat-user-first-on-a-namejet-domain-auction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/lucky-strike-how-i-beat-user-first-on-a-namejet-domain-auction\/","title":{"rendered":"Lucky strike : How I beat user &#8216;First&#8217; on a NameJet domain auction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past week has been outstanding, both for the number of sales and the results of domain acquisitions I achieved.<\/p>\n<p>While no personal records were set, it&#8217;s still a representation of a healthy year almost halfway already. Domaining is far from dead, as long as one&#8217;s domain portfolio is diversified.<\/p>\n<p>Domain sales have been strong, particularly since I incorporated outbound sales as part of my domain selling strategy. I will expand on this in a future article, to discuss the particular challenges that I faced, and overcame.<\/p>\n<p>What I&#8217;m extremely happy about, is the acquisition of a stellar domain name that for obvious reasons I cannot disclose. It has become one of my best domain acquisitions to this date, at a tenth of the price that I was prepared to pay for it.<\/p>\n<p>And yet, I somehow managed to not only get the domain cheaply, but I beat the notorious <a href=\"http:\/\/namejet.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>NameJet<\/strong><\/a> user &#8216;First&#8217; in the process.<\/p>\n<p>Some say it&#8217;s impossible, as &#8216;First&#8217; is in fact a group of Chinese domain investors, pooling their money.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately for me, the auction closed on the same day that <a href=\"http:\/\/domaingang.com\/domain-news\/namejet-bidder-first-wins-1-5-million-dollar-auction-of-domain-27-com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>27.com was auctioned on NameJet<\/strong><\/a>, and &#8216;First&#8217; bid against himself &#8211; <em>and the reserve<\/em> &#8211; for a few hours, putting less effort in the secondary auctions.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure other domain investors had the same lucky strike, seeing &#8216;First&#8217; neglecting to bid on auctions they participated in.<\/p>\n<p>Going forward, it&#8217;s exciting being part of a domain community that retains its humanism. <a href=\"http:\/\/domaingang.com\/domain-news\/a-domainer-and-his-dog-help-ira-zoot-save-razs-life\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Ira Zoot&#8217;s plea for his dog<\/strong><\/a> has received plenty of responses, and I kindly ask that you contact him, if you want to help out.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past week has been outstanding, both for the number of sales and the results of domain acquisitions I achieved.
