{"id":5169,"date":"2016-09-13T12:23:46","date_gmt":"2016-09-13T16:23:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=5169"},"modified":"2016-09-13T12:45:48","modified_gmt":"2016-09-13T16:45:48","slug":"escrow-com-vs-sedo-a-domain-escrow-timeline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/escrow-com-vs-sedo-a-domain-escrow-timeline\/","title":{"rendered":"Escrow.com vs. Sedo : A domain escrow timeline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For the past 14 years, I&#8217;ve been using <a href=\"http:\/\/Escrow.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Escrow.com<\/strong><\/a> to safely transact in domain name investing.<\/p>\n<p>Acquiring and selling domains requires a trusted medium, and <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/how-i-first-found-out-about-escrow-com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>I&#8217;ve raved about the services of Escrow.com.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While Escrow.com is a sponsor of many domain industry publications, including one of my own, I remain unbiased and accurate in my assessments and reviews, as any satisfied consumer would do.<\/p>\n<p>The latest fun story unfolded just a few days ago, when <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/do-not-rush-to-agree-to-a-domain-sale\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>a domain I sold via Escrow.com<\/strong><\/a> was also sold in its matching .ORG by someone else, via Sedo.<\/p>\n<p>I can now confirm that the .ORG and my .COM went to the same buyer, who agreed to my asking price after I uncovered that very fact and remained firm about it.<\/p>\n<p>From my research, Sedo took a total of three days for the domain to change hands and I&#8217;m not sure if the seller has been paid yet or not.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, my transaction, including an inspection timeframe of one day, took two days to complete; on the 3rd day, the payment wire was already in my bank account.<\/p>\n<p>Escrow.com has received a lot of constructive feedback in recent weeks, regarding its &#8220;growing pains.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>After its acquisition by Australia based Freelancer.com, Escrow.com indeed faced slow downs in its processes, <a href=\"http:\/\/domaingang.com\/domain-news\/escrow-com-expands-support-team-with-new-agents-adds-5-new-languages\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>as it expanded on its services.<\/strong><\/a> The company&#8217;s headquarters were also <a href=\"http:\/\/domaingang.com\/domain-news\/escrow-com-moves-to-san-francisco-hits-one-million-registered-users\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>moved to San Francisco<\/strong><\/a>, away from the iconic Rancho Santa Margarita address.<\/p>\n<p>Both Sedo and Escrow.com are capable of securely delivering a domain in exchange for funds.<\/p>\n<p>Naturally, Sedo gets to keep 15% as a broker, whereas Escrow.com handles the funds without any commission beyond that agreed upon between seller and buyer. In other words, I can take home the exact net I asked for, with the buyer funding the Escrow fees.<\/p>\n<p>Time-wise, I find both systems to deliver almost equal swiftness, with the added bonus for Escrow.com of fast banking functions that are now performed from a large metropolis in California.<\/p>\n<p>The final choice of domain escrow, as with everything else in life, is yours.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the past 14 years, I&#8217;ve been using Escrow.com to safely transact in domain name investing.
