{"id":5304,"date":"2017-03-01T12:23:51","date_gmt":"2017-03-01T17:23:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=5304"},"modified":"2017-03-01T12:32:25","modified_gmt":"2017-03-01T17:32:25","slug":"domain-investments-hold-long-for-maximum-roi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domain-investments-hold-long-for-maximum-roi\/","title":{"rendered":"Domain investments : Hold long, for maximum ROI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My most recent <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/first-experience-using-the-escrow-com-domain-concierge-service-for-domain-transactions\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>five figure domain sale<\/strong><\/a> started as an acquisition on DNForum, around this time in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>The domain was part of a fire sale by the late investor, <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/farewell-igal\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Igal Lichtman<\/strong><\/a>, whose &#8220;Mrs. Jello LLC&#8221; sales threads were legendary.<\/p>\n<p>I spent $1,000 buying two LLL .net domains, and a two word .com. Igal&#8217;s words in response to my acquisition were:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As always, good choice&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Indeed, I sold one LLL .net three months later for five figures, and the other LLL .net six months later for four figures.<\/p>\n<p>The two word .com had to wait 12 years in order to be sold.<\/p>\n<p>The buyer circled me for six years before making a move, and it took a change in the company&#8217;s management team to commit to a sale.<\/p>\n<p>But that&#8217;s the beauty of domain investing, one learns to foresee the future by making wise choices, and by trusting one&#8217;s own gut feeling.<\/p>\n<p>The right time to sell arrives for these domains that maintain their value long term. As long as one&#8217;s gone through the <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/weed-and-feed-your-domains\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>weed and feed process<\/strong><\/a>, time is usually on the domain investor&#8217;s side.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, <a href=\"http:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/how-a-dnforum-domain-acquisition-led-to-a-9000x-roi\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>ROI can be extremely rewarding<\/strong><\/a>, and I shared the methodology of buying domains on forums during <a href=\"http:\/\/namescon.com\/news\/always-be-closing-namescon-2017\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>my panel participation at NamesCon 2017.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Finding domains where they are priced as if they are &#8220;worthless&#8221; is an art, but as any art it can be mastered.
