{"id":5563,"date":"2018-02-09T17:08:40","date_gmt":"2018-02-09T22:08:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/?p=5563"},"modified":"2018-02-09T17:32:12","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T22:32:12","slug":"a-full-decade-of-blogging-on-acro-net","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/a-full-decade-of-blogging-on-acro-net\/","title":{"rendered":"A full decade of blogging on Acro.net"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Time flies when one is having fun, and I just realized that this blog is now <strong>10 years old.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>When I started Acro.net back on <a href=\"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domain-sharks-and-hustlers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>February 4th, 2008<\/strong><\/a>, the domain community was quite different from today.<\/p>\n<p>My primary domain exchange outlet was <strong>DNForum<\/strong>, and I had yet to meet with domain investors in the US. Later that year, I did, by attending <strong>TRAFFIC 2008<\/strong> in Orlando. At the time, I was parking domains at <strong>Sedo<\/strong> and <strong>Parked.com<\/strong>, and I recall how nice the PPC was! My domain registrar of choice was <strong>eNom<\/strong>, where I had a reseller account.<\/p>\n<p>The main reason I started this blog, after I purchased it from a fellow domain investor, <a href=\"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/domains-90210-and-my-personal-blog-acro-net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Claude Dauman<\/strong><\/a>, was to complement my business web site, <a href=\"http:\/\/Acroplex.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Acroplex.com<\/strong><\/a>, with my personal angle on domain investing and other subjects. Since everyone called me &#8220;<em>Acro<\/em>&#8221; on DNForum and NamePros, it made sense.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m pleased to have been able to present my own insight about domain investing, UI \/ graphics \/ brand design, along with other personal &#8220;ramblings&#8221; by writing more than 1,000 posts this past decade. After all, a personal blog&#8217;s primary function is to provide an outlet of sharing one&#8217;s thoughts, and I did have quite a bit to share over the years, it seems. \ud83d\ude00<\/p>\n<p>During this past decade, I&#8217;ve tried to present information about my &#8220;<em>modus operandi<\/em>&#8221; when it comes down to investing, among other things. Quite a bit of the blog&#8217;s content references anecdotal incidents, some identifiable some not, from my past interactions with the wonderful world of domaining.<\/p>\n<p>The domain industry is constantly evolving and some of my positions over the years might &#8211; <em>and should<\/em> &#8211; have changed since.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/launching-domaingang-com-domainers-most-awesome-news-source\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>In 2009 I launched DomainGang.com<\/strong><\/a>, a domain industry publication that became my primary content writing focus. Acro.net remains my personal outlet for ten years now, and this is how I exchange comments on other domain industry blogs.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m considering a format change for Acro.net in the near future, along with the introduction of a new publication; as always, I&#8217;m grateful to all of you who had positive engagements with me over the years, whether on this blog, on forums or in person.
