Their lifespan is dependent on their owners&#8217; ability to renew them, sometimes at the last minute.<\/p>\n<p>In the case of the late <a href=\"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/farewell-igal\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Igal Lichtman<\/strong><\/a>, his legacy as Mrs. Jello LLC was passed onto his family. They took over a sizable domain portfolio, of approximately 5,000 domains.<\/p>\n<p>Two days ago, domain investor <strong>Yinan<\/strong> &#8211; <em>also known as Owntype on DNForum and NamePros<\/em> &#8211; shared some alarming news about the Mrs. Jello LLC portfolio of domains: their managing domain, <a href=\"https:\/\/whois.domaintools.com\/exoticdomains.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ExoticDomains.net<\/strong><\/a>, had lapsed at eNom a few days prior.<\/p>\n<p>Losing control of one&#8217;s administrative account and linked email can be outright devastating.<\/p>\n<p>Without access to it, a domain owner will probably not receive important emails from registrars about all the linked domains. Furthermore, should that domain drop, someone could acquire it and perform a series of malicious activities, such as hijacking domains under that domain&#8217;s control.<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.namepros.com\/threads\/mrs-jello-llcs-whois-admin-email-domain-name-has-expired-can-anyone-notify-them.1070507\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Yinan shared the news<\/strong><\/a>, notifying the domain community. <a href=\"http:\/\/tiawood.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Tia Wood<\/strong><\/a> saw the post, and emailed me.<\/p>\n<p>I messaged <a href=\"http:\/\/telepathy.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Nat Cohen<\/strong><\/a>, who is well-connected in the domain industry. He reached out to one of Igal&#8217;s relatives, and he in turn took care of business, letting his family know.<\/p>\n<p>In the process, the premium domain <a href=\"http:\/\/jerusalem.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Jerusalem.com<\/strong><\/a> was renewed as well.<\/p>\n<p>This chain of information sharing and swift actions, saved not just a domain, but an entire domain portfolio of thousands of domains; it also preserved the sanity of many people that would freak out and panic, during or after losing their valuable assets.<\/p>\n<p>In a separate incident, <a href=\"http:\/\/nameninja.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Bill Sweetman<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dotweekly.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Jamie Zoch<\/strong><\/a>, helped save <a href=\"https:\/\/domaininvesting.com\/carrot-com-saved-expiry-industry-veterans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Carrot.com<\/strong><\/a> from an expired domain auction, after its owner passed away; the domain is now in the control of his family.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s acts such as these that help preserve my faith in the domain industry, its people, and humanity overall.
