Also known as &#8220;the waiting game,&#8221; this is the part that often challenges a domainer&#8217;s patience.<\/p>\n<p>Having sold domains I held for almost <strong>two decades<\/strong>, waiting on offers can become exhaustive. At some point, a re-assessment of one&#8217;s domain portfolio and a repricing might be necessary.<\/p>\n<p>I refer to that process as the <a href=\"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/weed-and-feed-your-domains\/\"><strong>weeding and feeding<\/strong><\/a> of your domain portfolio.<\/p>\n<p>Offers that arrive can start at a very low, insignificant number. Some are intentionally lowball, to confirm domain ownership, or to provoke a response from the domain&#8217;s owner. But many evolve into full-fledged negotiations that can reach the &#8220;magic number&#8221; at which you&#8217;d sell.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s important to ensure that your potential buyer is <strong>on the same page as you are.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Offers come and go, but every number past that original offer must deliver an indication that the other party is not just <em>dicking around<\/em> with your time.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6263\" src=\"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/onthesamepage.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"511\" srcset=\"https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/onthesamepage.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/onthesamepage-300x128.jpg 300w, https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/onthesamepage-1024x436.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/acro.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/onthesamepage-768x327.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For example, let&#8217;s say the offer comes in at $1,000 dollars and you respond with a counter-offer in the five figure range\u2014that next offer that follows determines the inquiry&#8217;s credibility.<\/p>\n<p>If that offer barely clicks up a notch into e.g. $2,000 dollars or even less, there&#8217;s a gap right there that might be impossible to fill. Same for low ranges, when e.g. an offer of $200 dollars won&#8217;t cross into low\/mid four figure territory.<\/p>\n<p>At that point, it&#8217;s time to wave goodbye to your buyer, indicating exactly what&#8217;s going on: they are not on the same page with you.<\/p>\n<p>By informing them of this gap in negotiations without negating the sentiment using a different statement, you let them work on their future responses. Perhaps they&#8217;ll come back at some point to pay your asking price or to negotiate with a reasonable attitude towards your domain assets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Part of the domain investing game is waiting for inbound inquiries.
