My dad turned 80 this past summer, and despite some persistent health issues he’s still looking at life as the ultimate playground for gathering knowledge and experience.
His words “I’m not afraid of dying, but not just yet” have had a profound effect on me. It’s the kind of attitude that defines passion for life, not for mere survival.
There is plenty of time left, but not as much time as yesterday; defining vision and focus in one’s life is more or less a personal compass, that guides oneself along the way.
Keeping track of your own driving force, in personal and professional matters, is a simple yet important exercise in life. Without a purpose, a goal, short term and long term destinations, a person can end up wandering aimlessly, day to day.
Developing a plan and a strategy is an important part of your business life, and something that extends beyond simple definitions; one should literally write down what they want to achieve in life, and how soon they intend to accomplish that.
By keeping track of one’s achievements and targets along a timeline, our life becomes meaningful, pleasant and gratifying. And while you’re at it, mentoring someone about your own experiences and path in life, is yet another way to retain your life’s passion and vision.
Even if you’re in your 80’s and beyond.
“His words “I’m not afraid of dying, but not just yet” have had a profound effect on me. It’s the kind of attitude that defines passion for life, not for mere survival.”……………This is a very powerful, meaningful and inspiring post…Thanks.!
