I know someone who knows someone who knows your client

The world of domain investing is quite small; the much larger tech industry could swallow domaining many times over.

It is therefore important to use one’s connections effectively, when reaching outside of domaining. There are plenty of domain investors that are seasoned technocrats, who have been managing funds in the millions of dollars. Many of these individuals are looking to diversify into domain investments.

Having sold domains to Fortune 500 companies and smaller start-ups during the span of the past decade, my primary focus is to determine how serious they are about quick, clean transactions. Apparently, there is a lack of such no-nonsense procedures in the domain aftermarket, as a start-up founder recently found my domain selling approach quite refreshing and noteworthy.

In the domain industry, it is therefore important to value your contacts that are able and willing to give you access to valuable information about leads.

Having closed on yet another sale via Domain Name Sales, I would like to seize the opportunity and thank Amanda Waltz of Iglooformerly Domain Advisors – for her assistance in that sale.

Although she was not directly involved in the domain sale, she was kind to respond to my query, what with being a direct contact of my buyer. Amanda has been extremely successful as a domain broker and she’s very likable at her job; I had the pleasure of meeting her at TRAFFIC 2012.

To recap: connections within the domain world are important, but even more important are those that are able to reach outside of it.
