Sweet Captcha: Solve this little puzzle, spambot!

If you’ve had it with comment spam, you’re not alone. A couple of years ago I recommended a particular WordPress plugin that did its job silently – until its creator ended all support and actually downgraded its features, to promote a better, but paid version.

When trying to determine whether a comment comes from a human or a bot, nothing beats the concept of providing a challenge that requires actually possessing a brain function in order to solve.

Unlike captchas that simply display numbers, or even graphic images that must be identified, SweetCaptcha follows the concept of solving small puzzles. It takes less time to interact in this fun manner, than to decipher and type in a 16 digit or letter long, distorted number or word, blowing your eyeballs up in the process.

Once you install and validate your email address with SweetCaptcha, you are sent your login info for SweetCaptcha.com, where you can add more web sites under your free license.

SweetCaptcha does the job silently, and you never see spam comments again; let’s hope that the SweetCaptcha creators keep the basic version free for a long time.
