Everyone has an opinion and an asshole

In the past few days it seems I’ve ruffled a couple of feathers of people, that simply cannot face criticism of their own public statements. But why make public statements when they cannot invite substantiated opinions that differ from their own?

Freedom of speech dictates that anyone with the will and the time can use a ‘microphone‘ to talk about whatever comes to mind. Fair enough.

During five years of blogging on Acro.net I’ve dealt with everything from trolls, to ignorant time-wasters, to commentators that had a lot to contribute, via the posting of meaningful counter-points.

What I can’t stand though, is ignorance and the type of verbal masturbation that some domainers seem to be fond of engaging in public.

When facts are presented, you can still pretend you have an opinion (and an asshole, as genetics dictate) – or, you can just be an asshole. [removed link to protect the asshole in question, now that he knows that I know he’s one.]

The difference is, that being an asshole while pretending to be part of a community you know nothing about, is counter-productive.

And that’s why I’m here, to call it like it is.

  1. Read the articles on both blogs and I agree, if one cannot make use of an established domain forum community to benefit, they must have issues! I’m a member of namepros and dnf and use them both daily. Each has its own advantages.

  2. Steve – I don’t mind people that disagree, as long as they can back up what they say with facts, not opinions.

  3. People that can’t function or forums, are unwilling to learn how to seek deals or make sales, and on top of that badmouth their own bread & butter industry and peers need some psychological evaluation. It was a pleasure finally meeting you at traffic in October, looking forward to the next event.

  4. PHK – A pleasure as well. Rick knows how to organize solid events 😀
