Faith above all business

Abdu Tarabichi is an American domain investor and operates several web sites, among which Domainsville.com – a domain and tech news aggregator.

Earlier today, I noticed that several posts were missing from the DomainGang feed on Domainsville and asked Abdu about it. After all, the posts in question were talking about adult content related to the upcoming .XXX launch.

While none of these articles contained nudity per the US guidelines (no nipples, genitals etc.) they did contain discussions of adult nature and descriptions pertaining to and linking to adult industry web sites.

As Abdu explained, this kind of stuff is clashing with his religious views and are thus removed. Abdu stated that he puts faith above all business, and I respect that.

While neither Domaining.com or Namebee.com seem to block content of adult nature, it’s good to know that a businessman like Abdu operates with personal, faith-based scruples. Some might call this old-fashioned but I find it honorable.

  1. Hi Acro,

    Very nice post 🙂

Very nice to see someone taking a public stand for their beliefs.

A few days ago, a blogger actually mention that he was concerned about the ‘advertisers’ on a parked domain he had were not getting good value for their money, as it was getting a very good CTR, but a lot of the ads did not really match up well, with the domain name ‘subject’ matter.

First, time I heard this from a domainer in 7 years…other than what I had posted this in a blog post a few weeks ago:

    Sad To Say:

“I will post more on this at later time, but 99% plus of people that have their domain names parked with any “parking service”, do not give any thought at all to…

Did my visitors today, that made me money…actually get and find what they where looking for? Did the advertiser of the advertisement(s) they clicked on, get a true qualify potential customer…actually interested in their product or service?

Truth is, and always has has been ( with domain parking) always is,JUST what my “CTR” is day to day ~ and is my revenue steady and am I getting the highest payout per click.

    No thoughts beyond that.”

    Anyway…

“Some might call this old-fashioned but I find it honorable.”

I find this to be very refreshing statement by you.

    Peace!
    Dan

  2. aka It’s his site and he can post whatever he wants. He’s doing a great job over there but it’s a David and Goliath scenario against Domaining.com. Oops Bible talk.

  3. Dan – Thank you for your comments. Anyone who puts something else of high value, e.g. family, faith etc. above business is an honorable person in my book.

Shane – My personal opinion is this: with regards to aggregating posts one either does a full job or none at all. However, this statement is overridden by the fact that Abdu puts faith above all. Regarding David vs Goliath, I don’t take the Bible literally but it has many modern day applications.

  4. I completely agree Theo and can tell you that in all of my experiences with Abdu he has shown himself to be a caring and honest person.

I respect and understand his decision here!

  5. My good buddy Theo. 🙂 I love what Abdu has done with Domainsville! I have one blog which is receiving a tremendous amount of traffic from the site. Abdu took the extra step today to announce our meetup in January. He did this to contribute to the domaining community and nothing more. That in my book is the ultimate respect. He is a great asset to this community!
