In my thoughts and prayers

I was running errands earlier today, and I became rather agitated by the slow traffic. Fridays are always busy, especially since we are getting closer to the Holidays.

The music on the radio was interrupted by an announcement about the heartless killing of almost 30 people, including at least 20 young children in Newtown, Connecticut.

And that’s when I realized my loss of comfort due to heavy traffic was nothing compared to this tragedy.

I don’t understand what makes people turn against other people, in times of peace. Having had military training, I learned to respect the weapons and their use in defense; to protect one’s ground, family and country.

The killing of innocent children is an act that will never be justified. There is no excuse, other than severe mental illness, hatred, animosity and malice – all combined in the mind of the now dead perpetrator.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those that lost a loved one today.

  1. I am angry and very sad…loss of words.

This is not the America I know.

  2. Very sad day for all of us…………………..

  3. The deeper question is “why” do these events seem to be happening with much more frequency over the past 10 years? There seems to have been at least 5 of these events this year alone! Several things come to mind to mind – not the least of which i believe is a conspiracy by the globalist/left to demonize guns in America. In addition there are a LOT of very fed-up, very angry Americans (fed up or all different sorts of reasons – and terrible economic conditions are not helping) and these types of emotions manifest themselves differently in different people. While i hope and pray these events stop – i don’t think they are going to anytime soon until we start to get some real change in this country and go back to our roots. Maybe it’s time to embrace “God” and “Love” and “Family” again in this country…. although public schools are a God-Free Zone.

  4. I work 10 minutes from Newtown, CT, and can say it’s just devastating. Thankfully my 6-year old son is in a different school closer to my home. To think this evil coward went in there, shot his mother (the teacher), and then killed 20 kindergartners in cold blood is beyond anything I can fathom. It certainly puts things in perspective and makes you look past the petty stuff pretty quickly. But to know that such evil exists is disconcerting.

  5. I have a lot (more) respect for you being the ONLY blogger in this space who even bothered to mention this life-changing event. Thank you.
