Innovation: Success can be replicated but should it be copied?

Innovation is a human driving force that expands the need to simply ‘succeed‘ in doing something.

Whether it’s an entrepreneurial course of action, or a tangible achievement, by ‘innovating’ you create something different.

On the other hand, by simply copying the success of others, you’re following a seemingly safe path; while the urge to blindly replicate an outcome is appealing, a number of reasons point to three words: don’t do it.

Success depends a lot on timing, external parameters, the unique path that was followed across a timeline which had its own unique decision ‘forks’.

When you copy something that others were successful in, you risk losing the reasoning, the intricate detail and the method; all for the sake of the outcome. You act as a player of a safe, predictable game, essentially becoming a projection of that other person’s success. Where is your own path to follow?

Innovation is like giving birth: each brain-child is created unique, with its personal characteristics and identity. If all humans were replicates of each other, what a boring world that would have been!

So innovate, instead of copying; expand your mind and step outside the safety zone that a predefined course of action provides. The outcome will be rewarding.
