Time to invest in Greece: My second five figure domain sale with DNS

It’s not a secret that I’ve absolutely been raving about Frank Schilling’s Domain Name Sales platform, ever since I moved my domain portfolio there from Sedo in late 2012.

Last November, I announced the completion of my first five figure sale with Domain Name Sales, that of a four letter domain.

Back then, my concern was the buyer’s delay in securing the ccTLD as well, but they have done so since December. I can now disclose that the sale was for naus.com, for low five figures.

Having just completed another five figure sale with DNS, there is some information that deserves sharing about this transaction.

First and foremost, the buyer is from Greece; having sold domains to Greeks during better economic times, none was quite as high as this one. It’s an indication that the Greek economy is growing and that the best time to invest is when the financial indexes have reached a low point.

As the buyer is not a first timer with regards to domains, his negotiation range contributed to reaching an agreement on the sale, completing it very smoothly and despite March 25th being a national holiday in Greece.

The domain is related to the hospitality industry, by far Greece’s biggest money maker; some stats about the Greek tourism can be found here.

Always keep in mind that no matter what the initial offer is, the selling price and ROI depend solely on your negotiation expertise, skills and ability to properly evaluate a domain’s worth.

What do you attribute Greece’s economic turn around to?…….The economic turn around in Greece is historical and will be studied in Economics for some time…

  2. Congrats! Got to love 5 digit sales!

Curious, if you don’t mind me asking, do you handle your own sales, have a specific broker or leave it up to the platform to assign one?

  3. Your love and appreciation for Frank aside, there is no question he and his team have built something very special in DNS. It’s a complicated platform but once you know how to use it – it is by the most powerful selling tool the industry has. I use the app integration and have closed deals remotely through it and been like “Whoa, did that just happen?”

  5. Aaron – That’s a very complex question. 🙂 In a nutshell, Greeks are very resilient and optimistic; and have the Aegean blue to lighten up their lives.

Vincent – Thanks! The two 5-fig sales were managed by me personally; I have all inquiries assigned to myself. When I do need DNS to assist with a sale, I re-assign them. Domain Name Sales is staffed by top notch professionals.

BT – My raves are very justified and indeed, Frank’s team is unsurpassed. I wish I could use the app but my cell runs android. Frank, are you reading this? 😀

    Jenniffer – Many thanks!

  6. Congrats Theo!

Was the domain an English dotcom or was it a Greek word/TLD?

  7. fizz – Thank you. It wasn’t a Greek word or TLD. 🙂

  8. Congrats Theo. Good to see a Greek domain sell to someone from Greece… 🙂

  9. Kosta – Thanks 🙂
