As much as I don’t recommend GoDaddy’s hosting services, I’m totally against the methods used by its suitors and rivals to steal away customers.
People that are dissatisfied by a service need time to research for alternate services.
What they don’t need, is to make a rushed decision based on some coupons and offers made to lure them; decisions should never be made in a haste.
Yesterday, with GoDaddy being down, I witnessed plenty of registrars and web hosts offering the usual coupons or discount codes for either service. Some reached the low point of spamming twitter users on the #Godaddy hash tag. I would never buy a spammer’s services.
For web hosting, you can do your own research by visiting Web Hosting Talk – the biggest and oldest web hosting forum on the Internet, active for more than a decade.
There, you can solicit offers or respond to offers related to web hosting on a variety of platforms for every budget. You can also discuss web hosting subjects with other professionals or engage in regular chit-chat about technology.

i applaud the capitalist spirit of competition that has provided such cheap web hosting and hundreds of alternatives. This post reeks of anti free-market sentiments. If godaddy didn’t lose customers as a result of this then they have no incentive to fix the root cause. In the end the consumer wins with cheaper prices and more reliable service.
john – Customers that need alternatives seek them. They don’t need to be spammed or coerced.
