Sedo MLS and GoDaddy: Welcome to lowballverse

The recent move by Sedo to list domains parked with a “make an offer” option to GoDaddy’s TDNAM, finds me completely opposed.

In fact, this is one of the issues I will raise with Sedo officials during TRAFFIC 2012.

When I signed up with Sedo I did not agree that they could list my domains on any marketplace other than Sedo.

Casually, I choose select domains that I might list on Afternic, TDNAM or any other public venue, and I don’t cross-list.

By keeping my domains off the BIN price, I was able to postpone the inevitable; now that Sedo has gone ahead and listed my domains on the GoDaddy TDNAM without my explicit authorization, my two options are much clearer:

  • Convince Sedo that my opinion matters, and have them remove the portfolio from TDNAM, or
  • Leave Sedo after 8+ years of more or less harmonic symbiosis.

I am confident, that TRAFFIC will allow me to present my case.

It’s much easier, when in person, as any arguments that might arise from electronic communications are controlled in an honest conversation. I am clearly not very happy with Sedo’s move and I will make sure this sentiment is delivered on Monday’s scheduled meeting as well.

Comments

  1. I agree 100%. Actually I have the same problem with my Afternic domains appearing on TDNAM. Don’t like it at all.

  2. Had afternoon domain on tdnam with fixed price deleted it and day after it was still up at tdnam.

Lowball godaddy offers with no way of educating newbie is resulting in more lost sales.

  3. I agree.

I have not asked Sedo to list my domains at GoDaddy – If I’d wanted to do that, I would’ve done it myself. I don’t…..This is an arrogant, take-for-granted move by Sedo – and, its almost impossible to sensibly communicate with them about it.

Also, I will not pay a 20% commission, which is what Sedo will charge if a domain sale arrives via the GD platform.

Make the point to Sedo, Acro – and make it crystal clear to them that you are not alone.

  4. @Konstantinos Zournas – You can request that your Afternic domains not be fed to GoDaddy, just contact Afternic customer service: service at afternic Dot Com or call 866-351-9586 (Toll Free)
    781-839-7990 (International)

Also if your names are listed with GoDaddy Auctions directly your Afternic listings will not feed through to GoDaddy.

  5. Most sellers want the best exposure for their real estate listings, which is not the same as the widest possible exposure. Would you post an ad for a $2 million house on Craigslist? High end goods need high end marketing.

  6. Today is August 12 2013 and I didnt even know that Sedo included make offer in GD listing . I knew that Buy now offers are included but not make offer .
So , I received offer , very good one , and sold domain and saw Sedo msg “Since buyer saw on Sedo.com bla bla our commission is 15 %……
That was alarm in my head . I contacted Sedo telling them that I dont need more exposures, because any buyer that want my domain , can youst type in browser and get sale page .
No need to search in mls , this is not house that you are selling/buying but specific domain . I removed all domains for make offer and switched to “Use Sedo broker ” . My domains are no longer visible at tdnam GD and anyone want to buy my domain , must use Sedo broker and buyer pays % 15 , not me anymore . This is better way than Sedo for sale , which activate GD listing and I must pay commission either 15 or 20 percent . If you dont need parking, as me , go to Domain management and mark “not for sale ” and save on bottom /apply .
