A few days ago, Shane posted a list of “buyer types” that irritate domain investors, which can be classified into one of the following five categories, based on their claims and behavior:
- Poor students
- Generous husbands
- Angry men
- Spammers
- Lowballers
Today, I discovered a new “species” of domain buyers, the Religious domain buyer.
An offer was made on Sedo for one of my domains, UnitedFilm.com. I received a notification email, that I had an offer, but my SedoPro account panel showed no active offer for this domain.
It was found under the closed offers, however; apparently, someone from Sedo decided to close it but not before approving a comment in Spanish.
My Spanish is minimal, barely good enough to know what I’m ordering at a Mexican restaurant, so after running it through Google translate, I got the following:
“we are starting to build a project to make movies and we need this domain please much sacrifice can sell us God will repay in the future if you come to sell us what we promise to thank you in a more professional in future please your help in selling this domain blessings and thank you very much”
I would classify this note as one of the better ones I received for such a lengthy quote, definitely a polite introduction that might lead to a sale in the future, once the buyer decides to communicate with me again.
While I don’t mind the references to religion, blessings and God, I can’t help it but smile as it deserves a category of its own.

where even though you tell them xx,xxx offers and provide links to dnjournal, news etc
they still come back with 50 buck offer

We had a very bad experience with Sedo.
I am sure many domaines know that, [****].com was in auction last month and reserve was $800 and we bidded and won $1300 then we paid for it…
So what happened then…
Domain owner not transferred domain…
More than 1 month past, and now we are waiting our refund…
We wasted time… I am sure you can guess… how frustrating this…
